What is on this Hand and Foot score sheet printable
The sheet is one portrait page with a column for each team or player. Each of the four rounds has five lines:
- Books: 500 for each clean book and 300 for each dirty book.
- Red 3s + out: 100 for every red 3, plus 100 if this team went out.
- Cards down +: the points of every card the team has put down on the table, including the cards inside its books.
- Cards left −: the points of every card still in the team’s hands and feet when the round ends.
- Round total: the first three lines added together, minus the cards left.
The opening meld you need is printed next to every round, there is a Game total row at the bottom, and a short scoring reminder is printed under the grid, so the rules are right there on the table. Large print uses about 16-point names and 14-point labels; Extra large uses about 20 and 18.
Hand and Foot scoring quick reference
| What | Points |
|---|---|
| Clean book (7 cards, no wild cards) | 500 |
| Dirty book (7 cards, with wild cards) | 300 |
| Each red 3 | 100 |
| Going out | 100 |
| Joker | 50 |
| 2 (wild) or ace | 20 |
| 8, 9, 10, jack, queen, king | 10 |
| 4, 5, 6, 7 | 5 |
| Black 3 | 5 |
| First meld needed: rounds 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 | 50 / 90 / 120 / 150 |
A worked example. In round one your team made 2 clean books and 1 dirty book (1,300), put down a red 3 (100) and went out (100). The cards on the table add up to 485, and your partner was still holding 35 points. Your round total is 1,300 + 200 + 485 − 35 = 1,950.
Running Hand and Foot at a senior center
- Pre-pack the decks. Bag five decks with jokers per table before the session so everyone can start straight away. Large-print (jumbo index) cards help a lot.
- Mix new and experienced players. Pair a confident player with a beginner. Many groups let partners talk about their plays, which keeps the game social and stress-free.
- One sheet per table. Print an Extra large sheet for each table and hand the scorekeeper a thick felt-tip pen. Number the tables in the title box, for example “Table 3”.
- Plan the time. Four full rounds can take two hours or more. For a one-hour slot, play two rounds and compare totals, or deal 9-card piles instead of 11.
- Make holding easy. Card holders, a lazy Susan for the discard pile and a non-slip mat make a big difference for hands with arthritis.
- Show the standings. Run the on-screen score keeper on a tablet or a TV so everyone can see who is ahead without crowding the scorekeeper.
Printing tips
- In the print window choose Scale: 100% and turn Headers and footers off.
- Set the paper size above to match your printer. US Letter and A4 both fit up to six teams on one page.
- The sheet is plain black and white, so it photocopies cleanly. Print a stack for the month in one go.
Frequently asked questions
Do the cards inside a book count as well as the book bonus?
In most groups, yes. The 500 or 300 is a bonus on top of the card points. Count the cards in books on the “Cards down” line along with your other melds.
How many books do you need to go out?
A common rule is at least two clean books and two dirty books, but some groups ask for one of each, or more. The score sheet works the same whatever your group decides.
What about red 3s left in my hand at the end?
Many players take off 100 for each red 3 still in a hand or foot when the round ends. If your group does, add it to the “Cards left” line.
Can we play with three teams or six single players?
Yes. Choose up to six teams or players. The columns get narrower, but the sheet still fits on one Letter or A4 page in either print size.
Are my scores saved if I close the page?
Yes. The score keeper saves your scores and names in this browser on this device only. Nothing is sent to us. Press New game to clear them. See the privacy policy.
Is it free to print for our club or care home?
Yes. Print as many copies as you like for your own games and groups. No sign-up is needed. See the terms for details.
